At Ardross Primary School, our Years 3–6 approach is grounded in the belief that all students are capable, motivated and able to achieve success. We use a consistent Instructional Model across the school, with a strong focus on explicit teaching. This supports students to develop a deep understanding of key concepts, build confidence and achieve success. Through ongoing assessment and targeted support, we ensure every student is both supported and extended.
Alongside this, students engage in inquiry learning, where they explore ideas, ask questions and make connections across learning areas. This approach encourages students to think critically, solve problems and apply their learning in meaningful, real-world contexts.
Technologies and STEM are integrated across the curriculum, providing students with opportunities to develop essential skills for a changing world. Through hands-on learning experiences, including sustainability initiatives, outdoor learning and design challenges, students develop creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills. These experiences also strengthen students’ understanding of environmental responsibility and their role as active citizens.
We place a strong emphasis on student voice and leadership. Students are provided with opportunities to take on meaningful leadership roles, including Environmental and Cultural Captains, and to contribute positively to the school community. These experiences build confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of belonging.
Wellbeing remains central to our approach. We support students to develop resilience, independence and positive relationships through a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment.
