  • Incorporate improvisation, composition, and collaboration in musical activities.
  • Foster creativity, self-expression, and cultural awareness through diverse musical experiences.
  • Provide opportunities for students to perform and reflect on their musical learning.

Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) at Ardross Primary School

The Instrumental Music School Services program offers selected students the opportunity to learn an instrument as part of their public‑school education. Student selection is based on a musical aptitude test and in conference with the music specialist, class teachers and the IMSS providers. At Ardross Primary School, students receive weekly small‑group lessons from specialist IMSS teachers. There are limited places offered to study violin, cello, double bass and flute. The program is designed to nurture musical growth over several years, with students gradually developing confidence, discipline, and a sense of achievement as they progress.

Year 3–6 Choir at Ardross Primary School

The Year 3–6 Choir is an inclusive, energetic ensemble that welcomes all students who enjoy singing and working as part of a team. Rehearsals take place on Thursday mornings at 8:00am, where students develop vocal technique, musical expression, and performance confidence through a wide range of repertoire. The choir performs at key school events throughout the year and prepares for major community performances such as One Big Voice, giving students the chance to experience the joy of singing as part of a large, massed choir. No audition is required—enthusiasm, commitment, and a positive attitude are the only entry requirements.
